Can the TEA Party make a difference? Ask senator Bennett (R-UT)

Posted in Uncategorized on May 10, 2010 by DaMook

If there is any doubt that the TEA Party can make a difference in the coming elections, just look at the recent GOP nominating convention in Utah. Three term republican senator Robert Bennett came in third behind a TEA Party backed contender. (more here from Politico)

SALT LAKE CITY— Sen. Robert Bennett lost his party’s nomination during the second round of voting at the GOP state convention Saturday, making the three-term Senator the first incumbent to fall in this volatile midterm election cycle.

Bennett finished in third place in the crucial second-round vote, garnering just 26 percent of the delegates’ support, well behind Tea Party-backed attorney Mike Lee and businessman Tim Bridgewater, who will advance to the June 22nd primary.

“The political atmosphere obviously has been toxic and it’s very clear that some of the votes I have cast have added to the toxic environment,” Bennett acknowledged in a brief media availability with reporters shortly after he was eliminated in the second round of voting.

“Looking back on them, with one or two very minor exceptions, I wouldn’t have cast any of them any differently, even if I had known at the time they were going to cost me my career,” he continued.

Bennett was dogged by his support for the Troubled Asset Relief Program and for co-sponsoring a healthcare bill with Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Oreg.). To help make his case to the 3,452 delegates, he even tapped the star power of former Massachusetts governor – and fellow Mormon – Mitt Romney to make a final pitch.

But in the end, the furor stirring at the grassroots level of the party over spending and the growth of government was too much for him to overcome.

Another factor, unmentioned in the article, is that Bennett promised to only serve two terms in office. He served three and the people of Utah decided he didn’t merit a fourth. So much for promises…

Boston radio host compares Tebow Draft Day party to a “Nazi rally”

Posted in Culture, UGH!, Uncategorized on April 24, 2010 by DaMook

The “tolerant” progressives love to preach concepts like fairness, “paying back” (with other people’s money, of course – not their own), and “paying it forward.” They certainly “talk the talk” but rarely actually “walk the walk.” With all of this cushy, touchy-feely dogma, you would think they would embrace Christians who, for the most part, actually live the kind of life progressives only preach to others. You know, Christians who give their own money, time, and efforts to help society – in other words, walking the walk. Unfortunately, progressives generally have nothing but contempt for real Christians.

Tim Tebow, a true Christian, was drafted in the first round (#25) of the NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. Apparently his Draft Day party caused some consternation with a radio host in Boston. (story here from the Boston Herald)

A Boston sports-radio host yesterday likened former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow’s NFL draft party to a “Nazi rally,” a remark one media observer called an “amazing double standard.”

Fred “Toucher” Toettcher said yesterday on 98.5 The Sports Hub, “It looked like some kind of Nazi rally. . . . So lily-white is what I’m trying to say. Yeah, Stepford Wives.”

Station spokesman Cha-Chi Loprete said the station “received no inquiries regarding” the morning drive-time show and declined further comment. Efforts to reach Toettcher for comment were unsuccessful.

Dan Gainor, vice president for business and culture for the Media Reseach Center, a Washington, D.C.-based media watchdog group, said it’s “stunning” that Toettcher didn’t lose his job.

A Nazi rally? Nice. So “tolerant” and “progressive.” Remains to be seen what will happen to this douchebag but one can only imagine what would happen to a radio jock who compares a black player’s party to a Gangsta Rap convention.

Rahm Emanuel farts on TV

Posted in Humor, Uncategorized on April 24, 2010 by DaMook

Our dear comrade leader’s chief commissar spoke his mind recently on the Charlie Rose show (PBS).

It was probably the most intelligent thing he has said in a long time…

While there has been speculation on whether or not he actually farted, just look at his own reaction and how Charlie Rose stammers in his next question. He farted…

Global warming causes more fog & less fog in San Francisco

Having it both ways is nothing new for the global warming crowd. Global warming causes less snow AND it causes more snow. Here’s a story about how it caused more fog & less fog in San Francisco.

Cut the deficit? Here are a few ideas.

If our dear comrade leader was really serious about cutting the gargantuan federal deficit he would consider some of these proposals that would lead to about $1.5TRILLION in deficit reduction.

Don’t bet on it, though. Comrade prompter insists on using toenail clippers when a chainsaw would be more appropriate.

President Prompter

I purposely didn’t blog about this earlier because something seemed fishy about it. Our dear leader gave a speech to 6th graders at an elementary school and the accompanying photo showed him with his ubiquitous teleprompters:

Dear Leader speaks to school children

As it turns out this photo was of his speech to reporters at the school. A carefully crafted background that essentially fails because it gives the impression that he can’t even speak to kids without his prompter. I gave him the benefit of the doubt on that. Even I can be charitable to our dear comrade leader.

Then I ran across this photo:

Dear Leader gives boardroom speech

Notice that this is a speech to about 20 bloody souls around a freaking conference room table – and he needs a teleprompter. I’ve seen the guy give a speech without a prompter and he really sucks at it. He stumbles, fumbles, bumbles and generally can’t carry a thought. If I didn’t know better I would swear that he was a news anchor…

Probably the worst FAIL about all of this is that these photos were posted at the official White House website (whitehouse.gov). Are these people intentionally trying to make him look bad or is this a case of typical government FAIL?

Welcome!

Welcome to Da Mook’s place! I have been thinking about doing a blog for a long time. Many people have been saying that I should start a blog – no doubt they’re tired of my email rants. Thanks to the fine folks at WordPress, I can finally make this happen.

Certainly there will be some bumps and hiccups along the way as I get used to this so please bear with me. I will post the links that I used to send in my emails and this format will allow me to add more of my own commentary. Hopefully you will enjoy what you find here.

So without further nonsense – here goes…
