Parts of AZ border under Mexican criminal control
Mexican criminal invader gangs have established a beachhead at the Arizona border. There are vast swaths of US territory under their control and our government is doing little to stop it. With arguably the most powerful military in the world, what does our government do about this? They put up signs warning US citizens to avoid this dangerous no man’s land – 100 miles north of the border. I’ll repeat that for effect: This regime, with the most powerful military forces in the world, has ceded US territory to foreign criminals. (story here from the Washington Times)
The federal government has posted signs along a major interstate highway in Arizona, more than 100 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border, warning travelers the area is unsafe because of drug and alien smugglers, and a local sheriff says Mexican drug cartels now control some parts of the state.
The signs were posted by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) along a 60-mile stretch of Interstate 8 between Casa Grande and Gila Bend, a major east-west corridor linking Tucson and Phoenix with San Diego.
They warn travelers that they are entering an “active drug and human smuggling area” and they may encounter “armed criminals and smuggling vehicles traveling at high rates of speed.” Beginning less than 50 miles south of Phoenix, the signs encourage travelers to “use public lands north of Interstate 8” and to call 911 if they “see suspicious activity.”
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, whose county lies at the center of major drug and alien smuggling routes to Phoenix and cities east and west, attests to the violence. He said his deputies are outmanned and outgunned by drug traffickers in the rough-hewn desert stretches of his own county.
“Mexican drug cartels literally do control parts of Arizona,” he said. “They literally have scouts on the high points in the mountains and in the hills and they literally control movement. They have radios, they have optics, they have night-vision goggles as good as anything law enforcement has.
I ask you, fellow citizens, if the Russians launched an amphibious assault and captured Long Island would the government simply put up signs in NY warning people to stay away from there? To call 911 if they see a Russian tank? If Canadian forces laid siege to Seattle, what would be our response? More warning signs? I would like to think not but after reading this, I’m beginning to wonder.
Arizona recently asked for 3000 National Guard troops to assist with repelling this invasion – they got 30 (story here). They asked for a brigade and got an understrength platoon. On top of that they also got a couple of federal lawsuits for their efforts to enforce immigration law – federal immigration law. According to Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu:
“I think the American people are outraged that we can fight wars half-way around the world, send our nation’s treasury and our most precious resources – our American heroes that serve in the military — and yet here in our own country somehow they believe it’s okay for us not to have a secure border,” Said Sheriff Babeu.
“And that it’s okay to put up signs in my county and parts of America to surrender parts of our country to foreign born criminals,” Babeu added, “warning our own American citizens to stay out.”
I just don’t understand the rationale behind the regime’s handling of this situation. What’s it going to take for them to finally respond in force to what is, in every respect, an invasion of the US? A mass slaughter of US citizens (like this)? The murder of an American politician (like this)?
Finally in recent news (from the Washington Examiner), the DOJ has announced that they’ve filed a lawsuit against Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. This one, however, may actually blow up in corruptocrat Eric Holder’s face.
You’ve heard a lot about the Justice Department’s lawsuit to stop the new Arizona immigration law. But that’s just one part of the Obama administration’s multi-front war on immigration enforcement in Arizona.
In addition to the drive to kill the new law, Attorney General Eric Holder is also suing the Maricopa Community College system in Phoenix, alleging it broke the law by requiring a job seeker to provide a green card before being hired. And on Thursday the Justice Department filed suit against the Maricopa County Sheriff’s office, run by the flamboyant Joe Arpaio, as part of an extended investigation into alleged civil rights violations there.
Despite the splash of attention from the newest lawsuit, the Justice Department’s investigation of Arpaio could end badly for Holder. When the Department first informed Arpaio that a probe was under way, back in March 2009, it sent a letter saying the investigation would focus on “alleged patterns or practices of discriminatory police practices and unconstitutional searches and seizures.” But now we learn that just six months before that, in September 2008, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, known as ICE, did its own investigation of Arpaio’s office — and gave it a clean bill of health. Arpaio’s lawyers recently got a copy of the ICE report through the Freedom of Information Act.Failing to find proof of real discrimination in Maricopa County could ultimately doom the administration’s entire crusade in Arizona. The much-publicized suit against the new immigration law is based on the possibility that it might result in future discrimination, but at the same time the department is struggling to find evidence of civil rights violations in Arpaio’s office, which uses enforcement techniques similar to those outlined in the new law. There’s a real chance that in the end Obama’s war on Arizona will come to nothing.
