Dems leave Rangel dangling in the wind

RangelDinosaur corruptocrat congressman Charlie Rangel (D-NY), unwilling to plead guilty to a host of ethics violations in exchange for a wrist slap and a liplock from the democrat-controlled Congressional Ethics Committee, will face a trial this fall. (Congressional Ethics – an oxymoron if ever there was one – you know, like jumbo shrimp?) Rangel, citing his 41 years in public dis-service and his service in the Korean War, just can’t bring himself to admit that his idea of “public service” is actually more accurately described as personal enrichment. This is not only an indictment of a congressional fatcat, but the idiots in his district that have returned this douchebag to congress for 20 terms. The guy is 80 years old, don’t you think he has stolen enough already? SHEESH!

This story (from TheHill) tells how an increasing number of Rangel’s democrat colleagues are calling for him to resign “with dignity.” Even our dear comrade leader has gotten into the act. Republicans, salivating over the prospect of a scandalous trial during election season, are mute – you know, out of respect for their distinguished colleague.

The calls for Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) to resign are piling up as the congressman’s ethics trial threatens to loom large over campaign season.

The tally of House Democrats calling on Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) to resign his seat in Congress stood at eight as members adjourned for the August recess late Friday. That number includes Rep. Mike Arcuri (D-N.Y.), the first Democrat from Rangel’s home state to call for his ouster.

And so far, every House Democrat who has called for Rangel’s ouster faces a viable Republican challenger this fall.

Could it be that these loyal democrat “friends” are letting Rangel dangle to protect their own re-election prospects? Wicked Witch of the West, Nancy “Drain the Swamp” Pelosi was unavailable for comment.

Democrats are likely to face renewed pressure to call on the embattled Rangel to resign throughout the August recess. The House ethics committee outlined 13 violations against Rangel on Thursday.

“Democrats will not only be called upon to donate their tainted Rangel campaign cash, they will be held accountable for their party’s now-broken promise for ‘the most ethical Congress in history,'” said NRCC Spokesman Paul Lindsay.

Yes, one of the back stories to this whole affair was that Rangel donated cash to some of the democrats on the Ethics Committee. Jeez, I wonder why he did that? Some have regifted Rangel’s donations to charity, while others have not.

Still, Rangel will hang over the heads of Democratic members throughout the August break. The worst possible scenario for the party is an open ethics trial for Rangel that would dominate news coverage less than two months before Election Day.

An open trial is still not a forgone conclusion, but as of Friday the ethics committee was moving full steam ahead in anticipation of a trial in early September.

An open trial should be very interesting. In a related story, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) may also face Ethics Committee charges this fall. Hmmm – another black democrat facing corruption charges? Cries of racism in 3…2…1…
